About Courtenay Lambert Florals and Event Design

Courtenay Lambert Floral and Event Design is dedicated to the art of gorgeous, lush floral designs and spectacular special events.  We specialize in creating unique experiences, incorporating the taste and style of our wide-ranging client base, culminating in events that exceed expectations.  We stay fresh in the industry by attending industry related functions, special event conventions, and continuing education in the art of floral and event design. We affiliate with other floral and event designers across the country to learn and share best practices. We source and use gorgeous and unique fresh floral product that is not seen every day, and we quality check designs before they leave our studio.  We carry this ideal through every aspect of our business, including choosing beautiful flowers, linens, vases, ribbons, and other materials used in our events. Our philosophy is that a special event is just that, “special”, and flowers and décor are delicacies that make it even more so. We believe the details from the most obvious ones to the smallest are of the utmost importance, and what makes your event uniquely yours. Creating moments that our clients will truly cherish is our goal.

The History

Courtenay started the business in 2002 while working full-time as a corporate consultant. A short time later, enjoying her passion for flowers and design, she transitioned from the corporate world to the world of floral and event design.  Whether it was planning parties with friends, hosting a beautifully decorated dinner party, or chairing fundraisers for the Junior League; she loved creating beautiful events!  She enrolled in flower school in Cincinnati, and circulated business cards around the community.  Through the use of social media and good, old-fashioned networking Courtenay propelled into the realm of professional floral and event designer.

Since then, Courtenay Lambert Florals and Event Design has grown, and includes a top notch team of event professionals. They have produced some of Cincinnati’s most lavish weddings and events, as well as national events.  Courtenay Lambert Florals and Event Design affiliates with some of the best wedding and event designers in the US and Europe; as well as with event professional associations and industry groups, including NACE, Style Me Pretty, and Chapel Designers. Courtenay has volunteered at the White House, and traveled the country to attend special event shows and training conferences (including Chapel Designers New York, London, and California, Flower School New York, Engage, The Special Event, and others).  Courtenay's work has been featured in numerous publications, including Special Event Magazine, Cincinnati Wedding Magazine, The Knot Magazine, Venue Magazine, Florist Review, Style Me Pretty, Wedding Chicks, Ruffled, June Bug Weddings, and many others.

Meet The Team

COURTENAY: OWNER & LEAD DESIGNER

Hi! I love celebrations and creating the atmospheres that make them special. I oversee all the design work that we produce, and love to create the big picture for your spectacular event. I’m lucky to be a part of a wonderful team of smart and creative people, including client managers, designers, and interns whose creative contributions and project management skills are essential in bringing our events to life.

I didn’t go to school for floral and event design...I majored in History, and after college went into Human Resources. My career started in Human Resources and staffing, evolved into software training, and then HR Consulting. I was with GE as a consultant for eight years before helping my mom with one of my five sister’s weddings and subsequently signing up for floral design classes. While working for GE, my business evolved until about 2010 when it grew to the point where I decided it was time to go full time.

I’m a perpetual entrepreneur. I like to try new things, new ideas, new software, and explore different ways we can be more efficient or even diversify our product offerings. I often have 40 - 50 tabs open in my web browser because I’m exploring new ideas and reading articles about new innovations, etc. I’m definitely a right brain / left brain hybrid. I love using my creative brain, but I also love developing the processes that allow those creative ideas to become a reality.

I loathe paperwork. Enough said.

I collect English tea cups and saucers, as well as sparkly things. Who cares right? But it might give you some insight into my personality.

I’m part of a big family! My mom is one of four, my dad is one of seven, I’m one of six girls, and I have nine nieces and nephews. In my free time, I love spending time with family and friends. They are my lifeblood, and they keep me grounded. Whether it’s hanging out and having coffee, getting together and grilling out, or spending the afternoon kayaking and stopping by the local brewery…if I’m with family and friends, I’m happy.

How did it all start….CLF that is? Not sure of the exact moment when I realized my calling, but in college, my friends and I used to create elaborate cards for each others birthdays, we would throw themed parties with costumes on a regular basis, we would make up dances (sorry, I won’t reenact), songs (equally as embarrassing yet clever), and even put on shows where we roasted each other. I think this is how I caught the bug for designing and creating special events.

When you come to see us at the shop, you’ll most likely meet George. George is our shop dog, and a bundle of golden labrador love. He may sound like a maniacal beast when you see him (and yes, he believes you’re there to see him), but he is a big baby. He’ll probably bring his favorite toy to your consultation and lay on your feet.

THOMAS: CLIENT SERVICES & EVENT DESIGN SPECIALIST

Hi! They don't call me an event design specialist for nothing! I have over 20 years of experience in floral and event design. On a day to day basis, I'm usually the one developing the floorplans for your event and tying down any loose ends to make your event perfect!

Not only am I an event design specialist, I assist our Designers in floral design as well. During my time with Courtenay Lambert Florals, I've had the opportunity to work on floral and event production for weddings and various corporate events. One of the most proud events I had the opportunity to work on was for the White House's 2014 holiday season.

I love aesthetics and bringing a creative vision to life. Being able to work on an event in the beginning when it's just an idea all the way until it’s all said and BEAUTIFUL is what it's all about for me!

LAURA: LEAD DESIGNER

Hi! My favorite thing about working for Courtenay Lambert Florals other than being able to create gorgeous floral arrangements - of course - would be my lovely coworkers and being able to have a close relationship with the owner, Courtenay.

I've been working in the floral industry for 30+ years but joined Courtenay's team in April of 2022. You can typically find me prepping for events at the shop: getting the florals ready as well as pulling and polishing inventory and making sure all the finishing touches are perfect for your event.

As the lead designer, I have an eye for the small details and put my best designing efforts forth in any event I'm involved in. If I had to pick a favorite wedding flower of mine, it would have to be a Cymbidium Orchid! So beautiful!

AVERY: CLIENT COMMUNICATIONS & SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST

Hi! Typically, I'm your first point of contact when we begin designing your wedding. Behind the scenes I work on setting up all of your appointments, as well as manage your paperwork! On the day of your event, you can find me managing rentals, and helping our Designers create the event of your dreams.

At the shop I also play a key part in our Social Media team; selecting weddings to be featured and working with our amazing interns and our Social Media & Technology staff to show off all the gorgeous details of your day. Outside of the office you can usually find me taking photos, reading a good book or tending to my garden.

I started as an intern officially back in 2020 but had a rocky and sparse first year from the pandemic. I rejoined as a fulltime intern in 2021 and at the end of my internship I joined as a part time social media specialist. in Spring 2022 I graduated from Wright State University with my Photography degree and joined the team full time as a Client Communications and Social Media Specialist.

I began working here as a way to connect with businesses in the wedding industry, and I was surprised to learn how much I enjoyed floral design and all the aspects of Courtenay's Team! It's continuing to be a great experience and a wonderful work environment, I encourage anyone in college to try an internship if you can, you never know where it might lead you!

The core four

Our team also consists of many other faces - our freelance designers & interns who help us make the magic happen. You will often see them on our stories & of course, on the day of your wedding. We couldn’t do what we do without them!

One of the most important pieces of advice we give to our clients when searching for their wedding vendors is to choose to work with someone you trust. It allows you to completely relax on your wedding day & know that everything will be taken care of. We look forward to getting to know you all more this year (even if it’s behind a computer screen or through a phone call), and hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about us!
